Introducing 58Miles showcase photographer Jayesh Sheth from Mumbai

Can you tell us a bit about your background and how you got started in photography?

I started my photography in the year 1977 , immediately after my 11th , and did one year certificate course from J.J. School of Arts. I was good in visual arts and was a good in painting and started my journey as wedding photographer.

 

 

What inspires your photography, and how do you choose your subjects or themes?


I joined library where I studied and got inspired by some of the world’s most renowned fashion photographers then like Richard Avedon , Phillip Halsman etc. which inspired me to get into detailing of the subject which was portrait and glamour. To establish myself I started shooting for Film magazine with film stars and with my unique conceptual portraits got recognition.

 

 

What has been your most memorable photography project or shoot, or any inspiring story around it, and why?


The most memorable shoot was with Hollywood Actor Sir Richard Gere , as I was a huge fan of him as an actor and got an opportunity to do shoot with him in a very short notice made me nervous, he made me feel very comfortable and I did photoshoot which got published in T.O.I and Filmfare magazine, which became milestone in my career.

 

What is your photography kit ? or we would say, what is in your camera bag?


I use Fuji Xt 3 camera with my favorite lens50 mm - 140 mm f 2.8

 

 

What advice would you give to photographers who are just starting out and looking to make a name for themselves?


I would like to give message of my 45 years of career in photography, that never give up and pursue your passion, till the end.
