Introducing 58Miles showcase photographer Divyanshu Verma from Prayagraj

Can you tell us a bit about your background and how you got started in photography?

Understanding the purpose of our life be very crucial, especially, when we start believing in ourselves. So, here's a brief tale about myself. As a student grappling with a heap of pressure, it wasn't a simple task to discover Who Am I and What I aspire to be. However, I stumbled upon the notion that there is a hidden artist within everyone, and I discovered my inner artist a passion for photography.
I am Divyanshu Verma, a self-taught photographer hailing from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. I am always very passionate about finding the moments around me that helps me to develop my inner strength and to see the world through different perspectives and that helps me to become a photographer. Engaging in small photo walks across various cities has profoundly impacted my journey. In 2015, I embarked on showcasing my work across social media platforms, that requires a lot of planning, self-motivation, discipline and takes courage to keep my head always up with a positive attitude and to stay consistent on my work.
What inspires your photography, and how do you choose your subjects or themes?
Although I don't come from an artistic background, my inherent creativity and unique way of seeing the world constantly motivate and inspire me to capture images from various perspectives. My creativity push me to explore and experiment with different angles, striving to present the world as I perceive it. There isn't a single moment or emotion or subject that defines my work; instead, I view the entire world as a continuous source of moments, a stage filled with diverse emotions and stories waiting to be captured. For me, every scene and feeling is significant and worthy of being photographed.
What has been your most memorable photography project or shoot, or any inspiring story around it, and why?
My memorable photography project is my "Home Documentary" project, which is ongoing. All the photos from this series are memorable to me. This project is inspiring because it touches my hearts in many ways. Every small and big thing in life matters and helps me discover myself. "Sweet Home" is the place to find happiness, and photography captures those little moments and stores them deeply.
What is your photography kit ? or we would say, what is in your camera bag?
My camera bag is very simple. It contains some important equipment, including:
- A Canon point-and-shoot camera
- A Canon 1500D DSLR (basic camera)
- Xiaomi 14 and iPhone 15 Plus (my favorite cameras)
- A GoPro
- A tripod
What advice would you give to photographers who are just starting out and looking to make a name for themselves?
I've seen many beginner photographers struggle with composing their photos. I had the same issue when I started, but lots of practice helped me improve. My first and most important tip is to keep practicing and experimenting. Don't worry about anything else. Be honest with yourself, and everything will fall into place. Patience and consistency are key to success. Also, don't get stuck in one place; be open to exploring everything. Read books by inspiring and legendary photographers. Lastly, don't just follow others take inspiration and create your own identity.
