Introducing 58Miles showcase photographer Madhur Nangia from Nagpur
Can you tell us a bit about your background and how you got started in photography?
Born and raised in Nagpur , I completed my MBA from Nagpur University .
What started as a simple hobby quickly transformed into my passion and profession. In 2015, I fell head over heels for the enchanting art of capturing moments. To hone my skills, I embarked on an exciting adventure and enrolled in an exclusive 8-day course at the renowned Delhi School of Photography. Those days were a game-changer for me as I delved deep into the beautiful world of photography. From learning the basics to exploring its profound
depths, I was hooked!
In addition to my passion for landscape and wildlife photography, I also specializes in family kids portraits, lifestyle, and architectural photography.
What inspires your photography, and how do you choose your subjects or themes?
Firstly , it’s the connection with nature. The beauty of unexplored landscapes and the raw untamed life in the wild, captivates my soul. Each photo is a testament to the wonders of our planet.
Secondly , the unpredictability and the spontaneity of nature inspires me . Whether it’s the golden light at dawn or a fleeting encounter with a rare animal, these experiences drive my creative vision.
As far as choosing subjects location is concerned there are various factors involved .
In Landscape ,the changing seasons offer a dynamic canvas. From the vibrant hues of autumn to the serene snowscapes of winter, each season presents unique opportunities for storytelling. The same place gives a drastically opposite view in different seasons and time of the day and this compels me
to visit the same place again and again .
In wildlife , documenting animal behaviors, such as migration, mating rituals, or hunting strategies, provides a deeper insight into their lives and adds a compelling narrative to my work. Also travelling to biodiverse regions such as the African Savannas or the dense jungles of India allows me to showcase
the variety and splendor of wildlife .
What has been your most memorable photography project or shoot, or any inspiring story around it, and why?
One of my most unforgettable photography experiences was participating in the first season of Disney Hotstar's reality show "No Filter by Indigo."
Selected from over 900,000 entries, this opportunity was both humbling and exhilarating. Being part of a show judged by legends like Raghu Rai and Imtiaz Ali was a dream come true. Their insights and critiques helped refine my craft, pushing my creative boundaries further.
Interacting with fellow photographers and industry experts broadened my perspective, enriching my technical skills and deepening my appreciation for storytelling through images.
Winning praise from such esteemed judges boosted my confidence and validated years of hard work, reinforcing my belief in the power of perseverance and passion.
What is your photography kit ? or we would say, what is in your camera bag?
My kit primarily consists of my Nikon Z8 camera , trinity series lenses by Nikon and my drone .
What advice would you give to photographers who are just starting out and looking to make a name for themselves?
For photographers just starting out and looking to make a name for themselves, my advice is to stay curious and keep exploring.
Develop a strong foundation in composition, lighting, and camera settings, and experiment with different styles and subjects until you find what resonates with you.
